Material Testing by extrusion-cutting for use with FEM modelling of machining

F.A.T.I. is working in a close collaboration with DTU - Technical University of Denmark  to develop a new powerful extrusion-cutting system for determining the flow stress of materials under conditions prevailing in metal cutting, i.e., at high strains, strain rates and temperatures.

The final goal is the generation of stress-strain curves that can be implemented in analytical models as well as in Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis, determining the mechanical/physical properties of machined components by the means of simulations rather than expensive experimental tests.
